Appreciating Silent

I learned a lot from the Symphony Master class today!!

Yup, today the UiTM Symphony had a master class sessions with Dr. Kenneth Thompson...

He was very inspiring!!!

For instance...! He changed our perspective of "rest" in music.. Into "silence"...

Because?

Rest is rest... But silence.. Is part of the music.. We have to appreciate and count silence into the music.. To help us to keep time...

And I learn that every time there us a running notes going on in the violins.. We have to find instruments that act as the metronome to help us keep time so that the music is "locked-in".

And I also learn something very valuable, about casual and critical ear... We always have casual ear in the early rehearsal and at the brink of the performance.. We have critical ear.. Which turns us into pessimist after our performance and unable us to see the bigger picture of the music instead...

So he instructed us to tackle the music the other way around.. Which I totally agree...

So far today has been on of the best day in my life.. Because I acquired vast knowledge and I felt really grateful!!!
